Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral in the teeth. It helps guard the teeth against decay and provides strength and stability. Fluoride is very good for dental health and its sources include meat, tea, fish, water and eggs. Dentists strongly recommend the use of fluoride toothpastes in brushing the teeth twice daily. The importance of brushing the teeth at night is to place fluoride on the teeth overnight.
Dentists use fluoride for many dental treatments. It is safe for use as long as you adhere strictly to your dentist's prescription. Your dentist will first have to scrub away stains on the teeth before treatment.
Fluoride Treatment Process
Both adults and children receive high doses of fluoride during treatment. First, the dentist will dry the teeth and next rub it with fluoride in form of foam, gel or varnish. Once we conclude treatment, the patient will not drink or eat anything for at least 30 minutes.
